- Project Name: Strathpine to Samford Rd Upgrade - Watermain Relocations & Connections
-
Client: Hazell Bros
- Authority: Unity Water
- Duration: Mid 2024 - Early 2025
QLD Civil Engineering was engaged by Hazell Bros to deliver watermain relocations and connections as part of the Strathpine to Samford Road Upgrade. Our works included the installation and commissioning of new watermains (125 mm, 250 mm, and 315 mm), decommissioning and removal of asbestos cement pipe, and cut-in connections to Unity Water’s network.
We also delivered enveloper pipe installations, horizontal directional drilling, and the grouting and abandonment of redundant PVC and AC mains in line with SEQ standards.
A key challenge was managing a complex shutdown across a large and hilly area, with thousands of customers potentially affected. QCE worked closely with Unity Water to implement PRVs, pump systems, and S-gate valves, enabling a re-zoning strategy that minimised impact. The shutdown was one of our most technical to date and was planned and executed successfully.
